Israel-based Everysight has been working on augmented reality smartglasses for the past 15 years. Starting today, you'll finally be able to (kind of) pre-order its Raptor AR smart glasses for cyclists and triathletes, starting from $549.
The Raptors display a small, green box of information in your vision. You'll be able to see your heart rate, pace, cadence, power, distance and more. With built-in GPS and GLONASS support, you'll also get a map with navigation to help you cycle through uncharted territory - or just an unknown city.

Embedded with Bluetooth, ANT+, Wi-Fi and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4100 processor, the Raptor is like a phone or smartwatch on your face. There's even a camera you can use to record video and share the footage later on. All of your ride information is synced to Everysight's companion app so that you can take a look at it later. The Raptors also use Everysight's patented BEAM tech, a connection technology the company says will deliver about 8 hours of battery life. Oh, and you'll be able to get your phone notifications directly in your AR view, too.
In our brief hands-on time with the Raptors, we were impressed by what was possible. Everysight also wants you to know that this device is also for early adopters, and a large part of that is because the company has ambitions beyond cycling, developing its own SDK so that developers can help create an ecosystem of AR apps and experiences for the Raptor.
Getting the Raptor is a little complicated. Today, you can head to Everysight's website to request a pre-order invite. Those will be issued on 15 November and will let you pre-order 16GB version or the 32GB version, which will come with early adopter prices of $499 and $549, respectively. Both come in one of three colors: all black, black with gold trim and white with blue trim. If you don't get early adopter pricing, you'll have to pay $649 and $699, respectively, which is a fairly large discount.
If you're in the UK or EU, you'll still be able to request pre-order invites today, but you'll have to wait until January 2018 to pre-order your Raptors due to regulatory approval processes. Shipments for the UK and EU will begin in April 2018.
