Update: The Garmin Forerunner 265 and 965 are now official. Read all about them in our guide.
A Vietnamese retailer has leaked the Garmin Forerunner 965 – which appears to be close to a full launch.
We’ve seen multiple leaks for a new Forerunner 965 and Forerunner 265, both of which look set to ship with AMOLED displays.
This marks a divergence from the transflective low-power displays used by the Forerunner series until now.
According to the Happy Runner listing, the screen will measure 1.4-inch (up from 1.3-inch) with a 416 x 416 pixel resolution.
And there’s word that there will be a welcome UI change for the Forerunner pair too.
Garmin has preferred transflective MIP displays over AMOLED to maximize battery life – but the Happy Run leak reveals a healthy level of longevity.
It alleges the Forerunner 965 will boast 23 days of battery life between charges, with 31 hours of GPS tracking.
That’s a jump in battery life over the Forerunner 955, which will last 15 days in smartwatch mode.
However, if true, it means that it offers less time for GPS workouts, which was 42 hours on the Forerunner 955.
The Forerunner 955 was only released in 2022, so this is a fairly quick turnaround by Garmin.
It builds upon the success of the Garmin Epix (Gen 2), which launched with the Fenix 7 in 2022. The AMOLED display elevates the usability and design of the device, and makes it a more natural competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra.
And it seems we won’t have long to wait.
