Garmin and Porsche Design have teamed up for a supercharged version of the Garmin Epix 2.

The design arm behind the famous German car brand regularly tips its hand to tech, and it's given the Epix 2 a Porsche-style serious overhaul.

For the uninitiated, the Epix (second generation) is a super-charged version of the iconic Fenix 7 outdoors watch. It’s something of a rare breed, a fully-fledged outdoors watch with an AMOLED display, offering the power of a Garmin and the usability of an Apple Watch.

The Porsche x Epix 2 case gets a silver and black case, with a vibrant red used around the main button at the 2 o’clock position.

The Porsche logo is etched onto the rubber strap, which is reminiscent of the thick sporty bands we've seen on the likes of the Tag Heuer Connected.

You also get some exclusive Porsche Design watch faces. Some carry the company's logo, while others use car logos such as the iconic 911. They're not exactly standout dials, but the racing-style Tachymeter (below) did catch our eye, as a playful take on Porsche heritage.

Underneath, it’s a standard version of the Epix 2 Sapphire edition, with the toughened, scratch-resistant display and 47mm case.

You also get the same AMOLED display, 16 days of smartwatch battery life, 60+ sports tracking profiles, and all the advanced health and fitness data that makes Garmin watches the pick of prosumer athletes.

It will launch in the US, UK, Canada, and the EU – but you will pay extra. It starts at $1,250/£1,095, rather than $999/£899 for the standard Epix.
