Update: The Mi Band 8 is now official in China. Check out our full story.

A Xiaomi Mi Band 8 announcement could be coming sooner rather than later, with the fitness tracker rumored to arrive alongside the company's latest flagship smartphone.

That's according to industry leakers via Twitter, at least, with indications that the next-gen tracker has now entered production ahead of a global launch.

It's possible the new fitness band is given the big unveil as part of Xiaomi's MWC plans - with the Barcelona tech expo taking place at the end of February - though it appears more likely that it's instead announced alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra at a slightly later date.

And given the fact that the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 debuted last May, the Mi Band 6 came in March before that and the Mi Band 5 in the June prior, it appears very likely that we see a Q2 launch for the eighth-gen model.

Of course, nothing is confirmed just yet - and there's only really the odd rumbling to go off at present - but this would seem to fit the strategy we've seen over the past few years.

Following any potential release of the standard Mi Band 8, it's also likely a 'Pro' edition would follow this. And if it follows the path of the Mi Band 7 Pro, we should see the pricier, more advanced model announced over the summer and ship globally before the end of 2023.

For now, we'll be monitoring any more rumors and whispers regarding the regular Mi Band 8 - we should get details regarding any design changes, new features and prices as we get closer to an announcement.
