Nike and Strava finally unite for workout sharing and content

Strava and Nike have announced a new partnership, which brings together two of the best fitness platforms.

We’re huge fans of Strava, which is an excellent workout analysis platform, and pretty much agnostic for all wearables.

But Nike Run Club and Training Club are some of the best coaching platforms available, especially for Apple Watch users. The structured training programs for intervals, fartlek and guided runs, all with real-time feedback, are quite unique. And it’s available without hefty monthly fees.

The only problem is that by and large, the two platforms didn’t speak to one another. If you did a training workout with one of the Nike apps, it was a royal pain to see that data in Strava. That will now change.

But the partnership is going further than just seamless data transfer.

There will be Nike-branded clubs within Strava and community challenges rolling out across the summer. Nike says that community content will feature “world-class coaches and athletes” and should add richness to the existing Strava community features.

For its part, Nike users will also get access to Strava’s mapping, for workout planning.

It’s a great partnership between two superb platforms, and we’ll certainly be dusting off the Nike apps and adding some more variety to our training runs.

The partnership is rolling out across the summer.
